0:04Today in England, more people need health care than ever before.
0:08Demand keeps rising on the NHS, especially on GPs and A+E
0:14Pharmacy is the third largest health profession in the UK, and with five years training pharmacists are the experts in medicines.
0:24In fact, it’s a profession that is growing every day. And they’re everywhere!
0:31Pharmacists are trained to do a lot more than just dispense medicines.
0:34As a nation we must make the most of their expertise to ease the pressure on the NHS and improve patient care.
0:43Why don’t pharmacists visit us in our homes to make sure we don’t end up in hospital?
0:50Why don’t we visit the pharmacist for advice about common health problems instead of waiting to see our GP or queuing up at A+E?
0:58The answer is – we do!
1:01There are examples everywhere of pharmacists helping patients, working with GPs, hospital doctors and nurses and improving people’s health
1:12The Royal Pharmaceutical Society wants pharmacists to be involved in every health team that looks after patients, whether that’s with a GP, in a hospital or in a care home for example.
1:24Patients need better access to care so they can get the treatment they need in the right place, first time.
1:31We want pharmacists to provide more great patient care, and be able to reach out and help people when they need it.
1:39What will this mean?
1:42A healthier community.
